Chartering In The Balearic Islands

Stretching out into the Mediterranean off the eastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula, the Balearic Islands, offer a range of delights to those indulging in a spot of summer island hopping. While the four main islands – Mallorca, Menorca, Formentera and Ibiza – share many common cultural and gastronomic aspects, each also has its own distinctive character that attracts a particular type of guest.

Here STARFIRE’s crew provides you with an introduction to each of these delightful islands, to ensure you get the most from your visit and enjoy the best that each of the beautiful, sun-drenched Balearics has to offer.

Mallorca

Mallorca is the place for gorgeous beaches, high-end restaurants and adrenaline-filled mountainous jeep safaris. The island is also home to some of the best sporting facilities across the Balearics, including a number of impressive tennis clubs, in recognition of the island’s most famous sporting hero, Rafael Nadal. The city of Palma, the capital of the Balearics, is well worth a visit for those looking to shop or to simply sit and soak up the local atmosphere in one of many cafés.

Menorca

With its rocky bays and sheltered coves, Menorca is a water lover’s paradise. Shallow, azure waters make for safe bathing in the island’s warm sea. For those seeking a bit of history, the island is famed for its collection of megalithic stone monuments, which hint at prehistoric man’s life on the island.

Formentera

For sun worshippers, Formentera offers some of the most attractive sands in Europe. Famed for its welcoming attitude to nude sunbathers, the island’s pristine beaches are popular with those looking to relax and soak up some rays with a good book and a long drink. (With cooling dips in the lapping waves thrown in for good measure, naturally.)

Ibiza

Without question the party capital of the Balearics, Ibiza is the place to go for beach bars, clubs and dancing until dawn. The world’s top DJs flock to the island in the summer months, though Ibiza does also feature some stunning, quiet coves for those looking to enjoy the island’s less hedonistic, more natural treats.
