Where To Dine In St. Maarten While On Charter

The French call it Saint Martin, the Dutch call it Sint Maarten. Call it what you may but this tiny island that sits off the East coast of Puerto Rico is shared by both countries. Known for its festive nightlife, gorgeous beaches, outdoor markets and delightful cuisine, St. Maarten is a haven as a luxury yacht charter destination. If you choose to dock here, you will be treated to a delightful cultural experience unlike any other.

Chef Stuart Chambers gives his insider’s tips on some of the best places to head to if you want to delight your taste buds with the flavors of this Caribbean isle.

Pizza Galley

Voted as the restaurant that serves up the best pizza and dessert on the island, you have to head here to see for yourself what all the fuss is about. The Galley Special Pizza is a fan favorite. Featuring spicy sauce, steak, black tiger shrimp, roasted peppers, mushrooms, onions, goat and mozzarella cheese, you will love every bite. You can also create your own pizza by selecting a cacophony of toppings. Fresh pasta and salads are also available but ensure you save space for the dessert. From Apple Four-Berry Pie, to Pecan Pie, to Chocolate Cake, enjoy each with a scoop of locally-made vanilla ice-cream. Gluten-free pizza options are now on the menu so that even the most health-conscious holiday goers will be treated to a sensational meal.

Rare

Chef Dino Jagtiani has lovingly created a menu unlike any other. Sushi rolls followed by steaks and burgers are some of the favorites. To start, ensure you try the Salsa Salmon Sushi Roll. Featuring salmon, cream cheese, fresh cilantro, cucumbers, Unagi and lime, this delicious concoction will be sure to delight. The East-West Cowboy is also absolutely delicious. With Kobe beef, portobello, asparagus, fried shallot and potato chip crust, this sushi roll is certainly unlike anything you will ever taste. If you are in the mood for a salad, try the Beet ‘n‘ Goat Cheese mix with added toasted pistachios. For your main course, do not miss out on one of the chef’s specialties. Mc Dino’s Burger boasts Kobe beef whereas the Sesame Seed Crusted Big Eye Ahi Tuna is a fresh slab of seared fish served with pineapple salsa, vegetables and rice noodles. You can also opt to order a variety of specialty tapas and side orders if you want something on the lighter side.
